Randomized Clinical Trials remains the gold standard for treatment efficacy and safety evaluations in both biopharmaceutical industry and regulatory agencies. Due to the booming of data collection and historical archives in recent years, leveraging real world data (RWD) and real world evidence (RWE) into the concurrent clinical trail to save cost and make it more efficient become more and more in high demand. For example, clinical trails with concurrent treatment arm only and a control arm constructed from historical data. I am working with Ji Li, my PhD student, on a causal inference methodology research project developing a better statistical method for leverage RWE and RWD in clinical trial design.
