Rendering animations for the Imaging Research Center

Lee Boot, Imaging Research Center.

The Imaging Research Center, as part of it’s research in media and visualization, uses 3D computer graphic animations frequently. The scenes can be complex and thus time-consuming to render. On even a powerful workstation a single frame of animation can take hours. Consequently, the use of cluster rendering is common in both research and industry. The ability to use this capacity at UMBC allows the IRC to produce research at a workable rate.
