Investigating Black Hole Mergers and their Gravitational Radiation through Numerical Relativity

Bernard Kelly (CSST, CRESST-II, NASA GSFC), Center for Space Sciences and Technology.

Numerical Relativity (NR) is the use of computers to solve Einstein’s Equations of General Relativity, our best model for how gravity works at astrophysical and cosmological scales. In this project, we will carry out simulations of single black holes and BH binaries as they merge, analyzing the structure of the dynamically evolving spacetime and the resulting gravitational radiation.
