Office Hours

The DoIT Research Computing Team hosts office hours to help navigate user environments and research workflows on the chip HPC cluster.

Office Hours By Appointment

These meetings will be held either on Google Meet or in person in ENGR 233i. Requestors are expected to be prepared with clear question(s) or an example workflow ending in an undesired result. Understand that some issues will not be possible to resolve immediately or in one session.

You may sign up for an office hour slot; however, an RT ticket must be submitted ahead of any office hour appointment. Some RT tickets might be resolved in an office hour session. If there is an RT ticket associated with your office hour meeting request, please reference it in the sign-up form.

Walk-In Office Hour:

The DoIT Research Computing team hosts in-person drop-in office hours every Friday from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM in ENG-102 to assist UMBC researchers and students using the chip HPC cluster. These sessions provide walk-in support for issues such as job errors, environment setup, data transfer, and workflow optimization; no appointment is needed. But to help us assist you effectively, please submit a help ticket beforehand with details about your problem, commands used, and any error messages. While we’re happy to guide you through troubleshooting and best practices, we will not debug user code, complete any homework, or perform research analysis. Our goal is to empower users to resolve HPC-related issues and make the most of UMBC’s research computing resources.
