We propose a new approach for delivering intensity-modulated arc therapy to cancer patients, beam-controlled arc therapy (BCAT), during which the radiation beam is controlled on or off and the dose rate is modulated while the gantry rotates around the patient. We will develop optimization algorithms for this approach, which will utilize parallel and high performance computing.
